Nails
Nails, like hair and horn, are made of keratin. Nails are the human vestiges of animal claws. These appendages protect the fingers and toes, help the hands perform delicate movements, intensify sensations of touch, and can even be used as weapons. Nail abnormalities are often clues to systemic disease.
